Project Selection Magazine

The reason I formatted my magazine like this was because my group members and I took a similar approach so the magazine is identifiable. I chose yellow on the cover page so it would pop and get the readers attention. I also chose an action shot on the cover page for the same reason to draw attention. The table of contents is more of a calming contrast from the loud first page with the Surge practice squad stretching in the background. The pictures for the articles are also relatively plain photos that allow the reader to focus attention on the words.

I will be shooting at a tournament in Cocoa Beach Florida (specific location yet to be determined) where most of the main Florida teams will be playing rugby. I will get some closeups and wide action shots of the games at the venue. Shooting will also take place at the practice field where I can get more of a behind the scenes view of the team and how they prepare for such big matches. These locations are the only options I have as all of the other tournaments take place later in the year.

Photo Shoot I will take photos at the Surge Practices at The Sarasota Rugby and Cricket club in Lakewood Ranch on December 12. I will also take pictures at a tournament in Cocoa beach on December 14. I will try to get some action shots of Surge players and other teams in the tournament. I will document some of the practice drills and training players do to prepare for tournaments on the 12th. I will also take photos of some of the players and coach I am interviewing. I will also show the environment and field they are playing at.

Interviews I will interview the head coach of the Sarasota Surge u17 high school rugby team Chris Speese as well as players Harvey Comb and Ignacio Battaglia. For the players I will center the questions around what its like to play the sport and their personal experience with it. For coach Chris Speese I will ask more questions about the opportunities students have to play for colleges and maybe professional team.These interviews will take place on the 12th and 14th of December as there is a tournament on the 14th and practice on Thursdays. I will interview the coach before practice and the players post practice. Questions: 1. What is it like playing rugby, a sport that is not very common or well known in the United States? 2. How do the injuries in rugby compare to other contact sports such as football? 3. Due to the lack of popularity in the States do kids still have a chance to get scholarship opportunities playing rugby? 4. How does the competition in Rugby compare to other c...

Title: Our title is called Florida Sports because we have a multiple sports statewide magazine. The title font will be in elephant font bold at the size 55 in white with a black outline. The subtitles for the articles on the side of the picture are in Franklin Gothic Heavy at size 22 in black. The size and font match my group member's magazine titles while the black and white matches the color scheme of the team I am documenting. The description underneath the subtitle will be in Arial with a light blue color size 14pt. We chose this title because the three sports our group are doing are statewide.
